The new ANRES website has been launched, designed to collect prevalence data on Environmental Sensitivity among Australians.
Australian National Register of Environmental Sensitivities (ANRES) aims to:
- Be a place where individuals with Environmental Sensitivities (ES) or their carers can register their Environmental Sensitivity and add to the numbers. There will be no fees involved and an automatic number instead of name will be generated to maintain privacy
- Be a place where support groups can register their support, linking in with other groups,
- Be a place where medical practitioners can register their support for people with ES.
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is a condition within the sphere of “environmental sensitivities”, a descriptor used in a wider sense to describe a variety of reactions to environmental stressors including chemicals and physical phenomena such as electromagnetic radiation (cf. Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity, EHS) at levels commonly tolerated by the majority of people (Sears, 2007). Like ME/CFS there are currently no bio-marker(s) used to diagnose MCS and symptoms ranges in severity from mild to very severe.
More information can be found at Allergy, Sensitivity & Environmental Health Association Qld Inc (ASEHA Qld) website and the Emerge Australia website related conditions page provides some information and links related to MCS.
