Each year on 12 May people all around the world hold events to raise awareness and honour those with ME/CFS and related conditions such as Fibromyalgia and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities.
This year Emerge Australia will mark the occasion by holding an event in Melbourne, supporting the global campaign theme: “Can you see ME now?” This theme is all about grabbing people’s attention about ME/CFS, especially those in positions of power. How can we all lobby politicians, philanthropists and donors to take us seriously and treat ME/CFS as the serious medical condition that it is?
Joining us on this important day is Chris Crewther MP and a range of other speakers from the disability and advocacy space. We will have several public buildings lit up in blue, including the Melbourne Town Hall and St Kilda Town Hall as part of the Light up the Night Campaign. We sincerely thank the City of Melbourne and City of Port Phillip for lighting their buildings in blue.
The event will include an address to members by our CEO, Dr Heidi Nicholl, at 2:15pm, followed by an afternoon tea at 2.30pm for all registered guests, with speeches to follow at 3pm. Don’t miss ME Action’s MillionsMissing gathering outside ACMI on Flinders Street, Melbourne at 1pm.
If you can’t make our event, you can still be part of the global campaign MillionsMissing by registering your Visibility Action – this can be as simple as doing something from your home or bed. You can also make a difference by voting for us as your charity of choice to get a share in $50,000 via My Giving Circle. Vote now!
