Connect with ME – join an existing Peer Support Group

What is a Peer Support Group?

A Peer Support Group is a group of people who are going through the same or similar experience, such as a chronic illness or condition, who come together to discuss their situation, socialise, share information and offer each other support.

Groups come in all shapes and sizes

Emerge Australia has over 20 Peer Support Groups running in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales. They come in all shapes and sizes: from casual get-togethers at cafes, to informal meetings at local community centres, to structured meetings with agendas and office bearers.

Some groups invite guest speakers to provide specialist information, some run hobby groups, while others run meditation sessions or go to the movies. Each group is different and is based on the needs and interests of its members, rather than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ model.

Peer Support is a membership-based service

We ask all people to become members with us before we share information about peer support groups. Becoming a member not only enhances people’s personal security, it also supports the Peer Support Program and builds our strength in numbers

If you’d like to join or need to renew your membership, you can go to: Membership  or email membership@emerge.org.au.
