Improve Your Functioning Through Effective Pacing

The University of Michigan Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Patient Education Program has a great worksheet that discusses the importance of pacing and helps people with chronic illnesses such as ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia to work out the best pacing schedule for their needs. The worksheet looks a little basic, due to font and graphic choices, but its discussion of the pain and fatigue cycle is likely to hit home for many people who run out of spoons way too early in any given day. It also states the importance of scheduling time for pleasant activities—something that is important for mental health as well.

The effective pacing worksheet can be found here (pdf), and can be read in conjunction with Emerge Australia’s Learning to Pace fact sheet, which goes into pacing in further detail.
