NHMRC Expert Advisory Committee welcomes Simone Eyssens as consumer representative

Emerge Australia was invited to nominate a consumer representative to the NHMRC Expert Advisory Committee.

We are delighted that our nomination Simone Eyssens, who many of you will know through her social media activism, has been accepted. Simone, who has severe ME/CFS has a very good understanding of the needs of the patient community and an excellent grasp of current research.

We are committed to ensuring Simone’s appointment does not have a negative impact on her health and for this reason have nominated Sally Missing (President) to be her support person.

We will at times and where appropriate seek input from our members and the broader ME/CFS community on issues for discussion by the Advisory Committee.

You can read more about the terms of reference and membership of the committee here

> The committee has a broad range of representatives. We expect there will be a diversity of views at times expressed within the committee but are confident that the patient view will be a strong voice and that the NHMRC is genuine in wanting to increase its understanding of the current state of research and the needs of people with ME.
> Please address any correspondence about the committee  to Sally at president@emerge.org.au
