Hello to all our supporters and readers of the Emerge Australia newsletter!
Can you believe we are already half way through February 2024? It has been a busy start to a new year that we already know will be filled with many opportunities and challenges for Emerge Australia.
Of prime importance to us is attracting financial investment to cover the critical work we do on your behalf. Australia’s economy has hit charitable organisations like Emerge Australia very hard and a consequence of that is that our donations and community fundraising have suffered.
We see your social media posts where some of our community are unhappy that we appeal for donations and financial support on a regular basis. We wish we didn’t have to do this however this is our reality at this time. We are immensely appreciative and grateful to all who support us financially and encourage everyone (your friends, colleagues, all those linked to you) to get behind our work in 2024. We need your ongoing help.
Another area highlighted in this newsletter by our Research Manager Dr. Michelle Tavoletti is blood donations to our AusME Biobank. Please read Michelle’s entry to this newsletter below and contact the Biobank to donate your blood for research purposes. This is hugely important to our work and that of researchers all around the country.
During the past week we were disappointed to read the Minister’s response to the Long COVID Inquiry recognising the need for a Stronger Healthcare System to support Australians with Long COVID. Be assured Emerge Australia is following up with the Minister and other MPs and we will keep you informed.
