Hello to all our supporters and readers of the Emerge Australia newsletter!
It is hard to believe this is our last newsletter for 2023. And what an amazing year it has been thanks to you our community, our wonderful donors, our philanthropic partners and of course the support of both federal and state governments.
This last quarter, in particular has been so exciting given we consolidated changes to our website and content; we launched our AusME Registry; we conducted advanced accredited clinical education for another 180 GPs; launched a record-breaking podcast series, achieving huge ratings on the Apple channel and linked up with some of the world’s leading researchers, clinicians and bureaucrats working in the US and Australia for our clinical podcast series due to commence airing in early 2024. Very recently, we launched our ME/CFS and long COVID GP Aware Directory online listing practices across Australia where clinicians have an interest or have undertaken our clinical training.
We launched our Gift of Care appeal (it’s not too late to donate); we have responded to four government inquiries, lodged numerous submissions and been a part of at least eight MRFF proposals for funding. All this on top of participating in fundraising events and producing media and social media that has heightened public awareness of ME/CFS and long COVID. We have attended conferences, spoken at conferences and joined forces with alliances to advocate for change at the federal level.
In a challenging economic environment and with very significant financial challenges our small team of 10 people most of whom only work part time and have ME/CFS has punched way above its weight and on your behalf, I thank them all for a stellar year focussed on delivering outcomes to our community.
My thanks are expressed as always to our Board whose vision and foresight support our work and who drive our strategic vision.
At this time of year, we know and understand life can be tough for many. For those of you who are severely limited as a result of your ME/CFS or long COVID we do hope you are able to de-stress and rest with the support of family, friends and loved ones.
From all of us at Emerge Australia Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and enjoy the Festive Season. Our wish is for better health in 2024 and a year filled with improvements as we continue our campaign to achieve the highest quality of life possible for you all and that you will receive effective medical and other services without stigma or discrimination.
Stay safe and be blessed this festive season.
