Hello to all our supporters and readers of the Emerge Australia newsletter!
We are in the final quarter of 2024 and it’s shaping up to be extremely busy as we charge towards the end of the year.
With a federal election in the first half of 2025, pre-budget submissions due, a plethora of government submissions to respond to and funding grants to write, those of us working on advocacy are flat out writing. In the meantime, our patient services team is busy finalising patient education resources for your benefit through our Learn with Emerge Australia (LEA) platform.
November and December will also see us delivering targeted GP and Allied Health Education to ACT clinicians as well as patient information and education sessions. Our Telehealth service continues to provide individualised patient support and navigation and we aim to communicate with as many in our community as possible through social media, webinars, podcasts and the website.
Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS November meeting
I am delighted to announce that on 18 November 2024, in collaboration with spokespeople for ME/CFS Australia, ME Advocacy Network, Bridges and Pathways, ME Network Australia, we will be holding the second Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS meeting in Parliament House Canberra.
We are finalising the agenda, speakers and details with Senator Jordan Steele-John’s office and expect invitations to be sent out very soon – so please ‘watch this space’.
Of the many inquiries underway the one that relates to definitions of Foundational supports as part of changes to the NDIS is of great interest and importance to our community. We aim to provide an update at our Parliamentary Friends group meeting as well as have a representative of NHMRC discuss progress with the clinical guidelines work.
These and other key issues of importance will form part of our pre election advocacy on behalf of the sector.
Thanks for providing your feedback to us and for your support as we work together to bring about much needed political and policy change for our community.
Feel free to email me directly at anytime.
