Hello to all our supporters and readers of the Emerge Australia newsletter!
Welcome to this first edition of our Emerge Australia Newsletter for 2026 and a belated Happy New Year to you all.
This edition is filled with lots of information on our work, opportunities and news.
In the time since we all returned to work Emerge Australia has been focussed on some key areas which are highlighted further down as you read this edition.
I am delighted to confirm that our work on behalf of the ME/CFS Alliance Australia will deliver our first Parliamentary Friends of ME/CFS Group meeting at Australian Parliament House Canberra on 10 March at 11.00am. I can confirm our speakers will include people with lived experience, parliamentarians Dr. Mike Freelander MP and Dr. Monique Ryan MP. We will also have a presentation from the Department of Health and are waiting on confirmation from a range of other speakers. As always The Hon. Mark Butler MP has been invited.
In preparation for long COVID Awareness Week in March, we continue to record a new podcast series where I hold interviews with key researchers and clinicians as well as people with lived experience. These will be released each day during long COVID Awareness week. Some of the interviewees are Prof. David Putrino, Dr. Emma Tippett, Assoc. Prof. Bernard Shiu and others.
The Emerge Australia Board and staff are creating and revising our Strategic Statement of Intent which will drive strategy to 2031. Once that is finalised it will be widely available on our website.
I wish to thank everyone who donated to our Christmas Appeal and Power our Practitioners at the end of 2025. Financial sustainability is a top priority for the organisation, and we are working on other opportunities for our supporters and the wider community to get behind. Whether participating solo in a fundraising event or bringing people you know together to participate as a team – make it a fun activity. Watch this space for more information on how you can further support our work.
Information about most of the above activities are listed below and on behalf of all of us at Emerge Australia we look forward to a year filled with supporting you in every way.
I hope you enjoy this edition of the Newsletter and as always – if you wish to contact me about anything at all – I am always available via email
Have a great month!
