VIC Independent Peer Support Groups

Bayside ME/CFS Peer Support Group

Location: Bentleigh, Victoria

Description: Our group is for people living with ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and Long Covid. We also welcome carers, as well as interested family and friends. Despite “Bayside” in the name, our members come from across Melbourne. We offer peer support, understanding and acceptance in a relaxed setting, with the opportunity to share experiences, exchange information and socialise. We gather twice monthly from February to November at a pleasant community house in Bentleigh (with regulated noise, light and temperature). Other get-togethers and casual lunches are dotted throughout the year and during the summer break.

Meetings are on:

  • The fourth Monday morning of the month, 11am-1pm, often followed by lunch nearby.
  • The second Saturday afternoon of the month, from noon for lunch and beyond.

The Saturday meeting has access to other spaces in the house, allowing for multiple activities. For example, young people can
head off to a separate area if they wish, or a small group can find a quiet room for a private conversation.

Description   We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month, with the exception of November, where we still meet, however on the 2nd Tuesday of that month due to Melbourne Cup Day.

We have a Christmas breakup in December which all are welcome to attend.

We meet monthly to offer support to people with ME/CFS or other related illnesses, their carers, friends or family members. We occasionally have guest speakers and also have been involved in research studies with Deakin University. We have a library and happy to provide resources and support to those who need it. We hold 1-2 awareness days each year to try and raise awareness and also advocate for those who dont have a voice.
