Welcome everyone to the October edition of the Emerge Australia newsletter.
I cannot recall a busier time of year. Some of our work has involved the following:
- Developing or responding to government submissions
- Creating and launching patient resources eg: Patient Decision Aid on exercise
- Responding to your calls for support and assistance
- Preparing our end of year Christmas appeal
- Planning the next series of podcasts
- Planning our Research Priorities Workshops for 2027
- Analysing results from our National Burden of Disease Study
- Growing our AusME Registry and Biobank
- Contributing to various research proposals around the country
- Presenting at conferences and preparing papers for publishing among other areas of our work
All of the above encompasses our work across the pillars of clinical education, advocacy, biomedical research and patient health services information and support. We have been charging full steam ahead as we wait on the outcome of our Chronic and Complex Diseases submission due within the next 4 weeks.
I want to thank all members of the community for your supportive comments online and for reaching out to your members of Parliament and the Health Minister in support of our work in patient support services.
We greatly look forward to the launch of the Australian Burden of Disease Study (ABDS) which for the first time in many years will include ME/CFS. Together with the AIHW we will be doing media on the launch in December.
The rest of this edition provides a good overview of the breadth of our work on your behalf. Reach out to me any time and I do hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter.
And remember: We see you; We hear you and we are here for you.
