CEO • Gender Equality • Female Empowerment • Education

In this enlightening podcast CEO Anne Wilson is in a fascinating conversation with Kit McMahon, the CEO of WHISE who has two decades of experience across education, training and not for profits – consistently and passionately advocating for gender equality and empowering women and girls. In this context, Kit is developing a keen interest in energy-limiting conditions given the high incidence of women living with these debilitating chronic conditions and the significant impact on women’s health.

“The majority in the world face compounding intersectional stigmas and discriminations. We must recognise that often the people in the policy development room are not the ones whose voice we need to hear. Those who are sitting at the table are not the norm – the world is not like them.”

Alongside her work at WHISE, Kit is a Director for Tradeswomen Australia. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Monash University, a Graduate Diploma in Action Learning, a Master of Adult Education (Organisation Development) from UTS and an MBA from Macquarie University.

“We need to change decision making processes to centre ‘lived experience’ in the design of our policies and procedures.”

This is a conversation about the future we want to create. It uncovers the priorities that must be faced by policy makers and service providers to move us towards a more understanding and supportive world for women and girls and for all those living with energy-limiting conditions.

We are grateful for Emerge Australia’s Ambassador Bloom sharing her rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine to open and close our podcasts.
