As we approach Severe ME/CFS Day, we’re excited to share a special episode of the Emerge Australia Imagine podcast. In this conversation, Anne Wilson, CEO of Emerge Australia, speaks with Dr David Fineberg – a dedicated General Practitioner, PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, and founder of the ME Research Clinic.
Dr Fineberg is at the forefront of research and clinical care for complex neuroimmune conditions such as ME/CFS, long COVID, and POTS. His work combines innovative technologies like genomics, metabolomics, and neuroimaging to deepen our understanding of these often-under-recognised illnesses. Together, Anne and Dr Fineberg explore the latest advances in research, the promise of personalised medicine, and how healthcare providers can better support those living with Severe ME.
This insightful conversation offers hope, knowledge, and a call to action for improved diagnosis, treatment, and support for people affected by these challenging conditions. Stay tuned for this inspiring episode – just in time for Severe ME Day.
For Severe ME, the care must be multimodal and in consideration of the whole unit – the patient and the carer/s together … For me, to do a home visit – it can be close to a whole day’s work. It’s an equity challenge – how do we manage our capacity to give the best care for the most people?… There is no question that we need home visits in our practice, but there are many challenges, not limited to financial and safety considerations.
There is so much ME/CFS progress underway at the moment – this is going to make such a difference. Please be engaged, get involved bsharing and/or participating in research.
As medical practitioners we should always believe our patients … Every GP has patients with ME/CFS.
We are grateful for Emerge Australia’s Ambassador Bloom sharing her rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine to open and close our podcasts.
