Emerge Australia’s Research Manager • Patient-Centered Research
In this informative podcast CEO Anne Wilson is in conversation with Dr Tavoletti (PhD), a biomedical and translational researcher with experience spanning academic laboratory science, first-in-human translational research, and leadership in national research infrastructure.
Since joining Emerge Australia in 2021, Michelle has served as Research Manager, overseeing Emerge Australia’s research interests and leading the strategic development and governance of the Australian ME/CFS and long COVID (AusME) Registry and Biobank—Australia’s national research platform for these conditions.
Her work spans research strategy, ethics and governance, registry and biobank operations, data and biospecimen access, and national and international research collaborations. Michelle applies her training in experimental design and translational science to advancing rigorous, patient-centered ME/CFS and long COVID research, with a focus on delivering meaningful impact for people living with ME/CFS, long COVID and associated conditions.
“In translational research, we need to be able to efficiently move from discovery in the lab, to impact in clinical settings. A patient centred approach has been pivotal at all levels in the design, governance and operations of the AusME Registry. Combining lived experience with strong research methodologies will lead to outcomes that can be most impactful.”
As Michelle often reflects: “Behind every data point is a person. Together, we’re building a resource that will uncover answers and bring us closer to better treatments.“
Join us as we delve into the world of biomedical research and its potential impact for ME/CFS and long COVID patients. Dr Tavoletti’s expertise and dedication to patient-centered research is a beacon of hope for the ME/CFS and long COVID community. Her work at Emerge Australia is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in advancing medical research.
“Australia is contributing to the global understanding of these conditions – through collaboration, we are able to move faster towards meaningful impact for people living with ME/CFS and long COVID.”
Let’s continue to support and amplify the voices of those affected by these conditions and work together to accelerate progress towards effective diagnosis, treatment, care, and a brighter future. Together, we can make a difference!
