ACT Equipment Scheme (ACTES)

Location: Australian Capital Territory Programs

Description: The ACT Equipment Scheme (ACTES) provides equipment, aids, and appliances to eligible ACT residents with long-term disability to help them live safely at home. Equipment may include mobility aids, hospital beds, shower chairs, continence aids, and specialised seating.

To be eligible, you must be an Australian permanent resident, have lived in the ACT for at least six months, have a permanent disability for over two years, and hold a Centrelink Pension or Low-Income Health Care Card. You cannot access ACTES equipment if you already receive it through the NDIS, a Department of Health Home Care Package, or private health insurance.

Community Assistance and Temporary Supports (CATS) Program

Location: Australian Capital Territory Programs

Description: The Community Assistance and Temporary Supports (CATS) Program provides short-term support for ACT residents who find daily life difficult and have no other care options. It helps people leave hospital safely, recover at home, and stay well, and also supports their carers. Services may include domestic assistance, personal care, transport to medical or allied health appointments, food services, advocacy, and support for carers. Eligibility is based on temporary or significant health needs, lack of access to other services, and ACT residency.

Community Bus Services

Location: Australian Capital Territory Programs

Description: Community bus services provide flexible, accessible transport for ACT residents who have difficulty using regular public transport, including older people, those with disability, and socially isolated individuals. Requires assessment and registration prior to booking.
