Chemical Engineer, PhD Ice-Cream, Father and MECFS Sufferer— In this remarkable podcast, Anne Wilson talks with Dr Alex Lubansky, chemical engineer in ice-cream and father of two teenage boys. Alex was an engineering academic in the UK and Australia before starting up a biomedical device company, Haemograph, where he is the Chief Technical Officer.

We hear how in 2017 he suffered an illness which had lingering symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog and pain. Six months later, he was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. From there, with tremendous support from family and work, and great help and advice from the ME/CFS community, he has made many changes to improve his pacing, now describing himself as a moderate-mild ME/CFS sufferer.

“I do have hope. As a former academic, I’m seeing research knowledge building and money going into the right hands. I’m seeing that we are asking more of the right questions – and this is promising – for example knowledge on pacing is building so much more than it was in the past.”
