In this podcast we are delighted to introduce Audrey, an incredibly inspiring seventeen year old who will be joining Anne Wilson as a guest on the upcoming Emerge Australia podcast. Audrey’s journey with ME/CFS is a powerful one, and we are thrilled to have her share her experiences and insights.
Despite facing significant challenges, Audrey has demonstrated remarkable resilience and a mature understanding of her condition. Her story will undoubtedly resonate with many listeners, especially those who are navigating similar paths. Audrey’s ability to adapt and thrive, even while doing school online and managing her health, is a testament to her strength and determination.
Knowing my inner truth is key, for example I know that I deserve good medical treatment. I know that my voice matters, that I can speak up and that I can show up as my authentic self. It doesn’t prevent me from being hurt by gaslighting, but it does stop me from believing it.
During the podcast, Audrey will discuss her unique perspective on living with ME/CFS, including her experiences with post-exertional malaise (PEM) and the impact it has had on her life. She will also share her valuable insights into the healthcare system, offering a fresh and honest take on the good, the bad, and the necessary improvements that can be made.
Doctors were refusing to believe my reality, and the reality of my family. This continued mainly over a couple of years – but even to this day with my official diagnosis. They are so unconcerned by the impact of their gaslighting and treatment. It was like being a lab rat – I felt stripped of my humanity.
Anne Wilson, our host, will guide this conversation with her trademark empathy and expertise, ensuring that Audrey’s voice is heard and her message reaches a wide audience. This podcast episode promises to be a meaningful and educational experience, providing a platform for Audrey’s advocacy work and raising awareness about ME/CFS.
We are grateful for Emerge Australia’s Ambassador Bloom sharing her rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine to open and close our podcasts.
